The Internal Athlete is the creation of Sam Moor who currently resides with his family in the South Downs National Park, UK. For his local training schedule see: sussextaichi.co.uk
Sam has been training and teaching for a long time – he began his tutelage in martial arts as a teenager and started his journey into the internal arts at the age of 20. As such he is only too aware of the vast benefits on offer along with the common physio-cognitive hurdles that we face when we seek to improve body and mind. It is often difficult to find sensible, sustainable and well rounded guidance – this is what Sam seeks to provide his students.
Sam has trained extensively in UK, Europe and China making numerous trips over the years to Beijing, Zhengzhou & Chenjiagou for intensive tutelage. He is instructor certified by the Chinese Internal Arts Association, the Chen Xiao Wang World Taijiquan Association and is an associate instructor for the Chen Bing Taiji Academy. He has a Ba(hons) in Philosophy and History and diplomas in bodywork and Anatomy/Physiology.
When he is not teaching or training Sam can be found enjoying time with his partner Antonia (antoniastringer.com) and their family. Sam has a deep connection with and passion for the natural world; when time allows he likes to melt into the wilds (he goes fishing).
Over the years Sam has written for a variety of publications on the subject of internal martial arts. Some of his work is on this site. He also works as a Lecturer in the same vein from time to time.
It is Sam’s aim to share what he has learned as clearly as possible so that more people can discover the vast benefit, enjoyment and liberation that internal arts training can offer – but without all the usual dogma and doctrine.
